ST. IGNATIUS — Snow and ice, appears to be the recurring theme for our February weather. Our Wednesday night meal on Feb. 17 was delicious, but sparsely attended. We are hoping that as we move toward spring, more of you will venture out for our once-a-month evening meals. The next one is scheduled for March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. The menu will be corned beef, cabbage, veggies and dessert.

On March 5 we will say goodbye to our intrepid driver and assistant cook and cleaner, who is moving to Texas, for a while, to help her mother recover from illness. We will miss her and it may take three people to take her place. She is the one who has been making all the fabulous desserts and she will leave us with a bunch to tide us over for a while. Michelle does a fabulous job with all our meals, so our quality standards will never be compromised.

We are looking for a few people to work at the center. We need an assistant cook to prep and help Michelle in the kitchen two or three days a week, depending on how many meals we are serving that week. Also, we need a delivery driver for the “Meals-on-Wheels” recipients. This job is for two days a week and the first Wednesday of each month. The center provides the vehicle. We also need a cleaning person for up to four hours a month, to clean the center when no other activity is happening. The hours are flexible. For more details, please call Irene at 406-745-4462, or come in on Tuesdays, between 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or Fridays, between 9 a.m.-2 p.m., for an application.

For those needing help with taxes this spring, the AARP will not be doing taxes in person. However, we have tax forms at the center. You can pick these up during our open hours, Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. After filling out the forms, return them to the center and we will get them to Polson where they will be reviewed by tax professionals. Please call if these times are not convenient for you and we can make other arrangements to make sure you can get your copies of the forms.

Menu for the week:

—  Friday, February 26: chicken and bacon casserole, veggies, dessert

—  Tuesday, March 2: chicken enchilada with white sauce, corn, dessert

—  Wednesday, March 3: meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, dessert

Stay safe and warm.
