Softball

Polson Lady Pirates

On Saturday, the Polson Lady Pirates opened their 2021 softball season with wins over visiting Butte Central Maroons and Park Lady Rangers.

The Lady Pirates blew open a tight game against Butte Central, scoring 11 runs across the fourth and fifth innings to claim an 11-2 victory. As a team, Polson collected nine hits, with multiple hits from Katelyne Druyvestein, Lexie Orien, SaVanna Carpentier and McKenna Hanson. In the circle, Druyvestein earned the win, giving up two runs on five hits.

In the late game, against Park, the Lady Pirate offense scored 21 runs in four innings for a 21-0 win over the Lady Rangers. Polson plated five runs in the first, six in the second, four in the third and four in the fourth to pull away and secure their second win on the young season.

Park batters were held to a single hit on the day. Mossy Kauley finished the day for the Lady Pirates with a triple on four hits. Josie Caye was 2 for 4 with a pair of walks, and Hanson tallied a double on three hits.

Track & Field

Mission Valley area prep track teams began their season this weekend during the Blue Devil Invitational track and field meet held in Corvallis on Saturday.

The Polson Pirates were led by Jarrett Wilson who finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.65 seconds. Wilson was second in the 100-meter dash and third in the high jump. Pirate long-distance runner Mason Sloan picked up third place in the 1600 and fifth place in the 3200. Ryan Dupuis placed fourth in the 1600 and fifth in the 800. Austin Luper grabbed third in the 200-meter dash. Lucas Targerson finished fourth in the long jump, and in the javelin, Jonathan Perez placed fourth.

The Pirate team of Abel Kimmel, Perez, Wilson and Luper finished third in the 4x100 relay.

For the Polson girls, Ashtyn Wagner nabbed a fifth-place finish in the 800, while in the 3200, Isabel Seeley finished fourth followed by Sami Dolberry in fifth.

In Class B, Arlee Warrior Colt Crawford placed second with a time of 44.62 in the 300-meter hurdles, while RJ Knoll placed fifth in the pole vault. Arlee Scarlet Adalyn Jacobson finished with a fifth-place time in the 200-meter dash. Scarlet Harli Kinney finished fifth in the pole vault.
