Editor,

This letter is written in regard to the Journal’s July 2, 2014 article regarding the City of Ronan insurance coverage, if the City of Ronan and/or the police department’s insurance coverage has lapsed and whether the city of Ronan’s Mayor and Police Department had no required coverage. The State of Montana’s Department of Justice should then open an investigation regarding other possible corruption activities, conspiracy, misconduct, and misdoings. I feel there is enough probable cause and evidence to open an investigation by DOJ and the Attorney General’s Office into Ronan city’s operations. I know that several of the Ronan Police Department officers are trying to do the best job possible; but without proper guidance, supervision and training, it’s going to be very hard.

Ronan citizens, remember that these men and women who put on the police uniform and badge put their lives on the line protecting you and me every day, with low pay and hardly any recognition. The police officer’s job is not an easy one. We should be telling these officers that we appreciate the job they are trying to do everyday. We should be demanding that the mayor and its city council start doing their job by making the police department more professional with an experienced chief of police. The mayor and city council members should then let the police officers do their job right and not use intimidation against its officers. The facts are that the mayor and city council members are not letting the officers do their job by the letter of the law. If the city officials wouldn’t do their obligated and sworn job to protect its citizens the right way, then they should be recalled from office.

I am strongly recommending that Montana DOJ/Attorney General’s office look into Ronan Police Department’s operations.
