FLATHEAD RESERVATION – People living in Seepay and Vanderburg Creek road system areas can expect heavier traffic from workers trying to put out a small wildfire located six miles due south of Perma and 1.5 miles northwest of Three Lakes Peak, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes’ Division of Fire said in a memo last week.
The lightning-ignited blaze discovered July 17 is in a roadless area of steep terrain with heavy downed dead material from beetle-killed lodge pole pine and sub-alpine fir timber, according to a memo.
No homes were threatened by the 30-acre fire.
As of July 25, the Division of Fire planned to use confine strategies to manage the fire.
Smoke from the blaze is expected to increase as higher temperatures and warmer air masses filter into the area this week.
