RONAN – As Ronan’s sports teams gear up for their first practices and students prepare for a new year in their high school careers, new Athletic Director Courtney Fisher is preparing for a new chapter as well, moving from teacher and coach to overseeing all.

“I’m really excited,” Fisher said about her new position. “I want to show these kids that hard work pays off. Drive and determination helps the youth to understand there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Fisher, a Flathead Valley high school graduate, is excited to take the many years she has spent both as a varsity player and coach and plans to apply her “well rounded knowledge” to the ever-growing future of the Ronan sports program. She also brings seven years of classroom experience, teaching grades second through eighth.

As a student, Fisher played varsity softball, basketball, threw javelin in track and took to the ski slopes in the winter. She has coached varsity softball and basketball for the Flathead Valley, Whitefish, and Troy programs as well as been a professional ski instructor for 15 years on Big Mountain and Blacktail slopes. She has also spent time in stripes as a referee for basketball and volleyball.

Fisher’s goal is to start kids on a solid athletic foundation at the middle school levels, bring them through high school while creating “stellar athletes,” and keep the kids continually involved in sports programs.

“We are here to help them grow,” she said. “I would like to continue with a program that allows program growth and to be able to expand to be more competitive.”
