Vandal damages doors, windows at Pablo Elementary

Kate Haake/Valley Journal

The north door and windows at Pablo Elementary School are temporarily fixed thanks to duct tape and boards.

PABLO — Early on Tuesday morning, an individual snuck onto Pablo Elementary School property and threw rocks at the north door and one of the classrooms, shattering windows.
Relatively speaking, the vandalism wreaked little havoc but managed to put the students in a state of unrest and distress.
“It makes kids feel unsafe,” Pablo Elementary School principal, Frank Ciez said. “Kids get upset.”
Ciez said that the students saw the damage done to their school on Tuesday morning and were hurt because they take pride in their school’s appearance.
“We spent some money to have the school look nice,” Ciez said.
For now, the windows on the north door are patched up with duct tape and wooden boards. The window in the classroom has already been repaired.
A sign beside the north door reads: ‘Be safe, be respectful, be responsible and be an active learner.’
Ciez said that whoever the perpetrator was, he certainly didn’t learn those lessons.
No one has been charged with the crime yet, but if anyone has any information regarding the vandalism, please contact the Lake County Sheriff's Office or Pablo Elementary School.
