Live Locally racers brave cold

POLSON — The third annual Live Locally 5k race drew 156 runners and walkers even on a cold and overcast morning.
The race, held on Oct. 24, raised $2,250 for Mission Valley Aquatics, bringing the three-year total to over $7,000.
HealthCare Plus and Country Pasta started the Live Locally 5k fun/walk in 2007 as a way to inform the community about Lung Health Awareness Month and to celebrate National Pasta Month.
All the walkers and runners received a free bag of Country Pasta, a waterbottle from Lake County Public Health-SmokeFree Montana and were treated to a spaghetti feed with other snacks donated by local businesses.
Age group award winners won homemade tepees this year, and all the participants had a chance to win prizes and gift certificates also donated by local businesses.
Clay Bird from Great Falls was the overall winner with a time of 16:32, and Brittany Katzer from Somers was the top female finisher with a time of 19:41.
