Salish Kootenai College - Position Announcement - Early Childhood Education Instructor
Salish Kootenai College seeks applicants for an Instructor for the Early Childhood Education Department. The instructor will provide early childhood education training and coursework to students enrolled in the AA and BS Early Childhood Education Program. Students will consist of Head Start teachers, child care providers and “traditional” students who are not yet working in an early childhood program. Duties will include development of course syllabi, serve as mentor, assess and document student performance and maintain office hours.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with two years of coursework in Early Childhood Education; Montana teaching licensure with an endorsement in special education or early childhood required. Five years experience teaching young children (birth to age 5) with preference given to an individual with experience working for a Head Start program; three years experience supervising teachers with responsibilities in providing for their professional development; three years experience teaching adults with knowledge of teaching and the methods involved in learning and instruction. Specific training in Infant Toddler Caregiving through the Program for Infants and Toddlers Caregivers, and certification in Touchpoints through the Brazeton Institute. Knowledge of the behavior, customs and origins of the Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the mission and goals of Salish Kootenai College; knowledge of protecting people, data and property; and the ability to communicate through written, spoken or visual media.
