Scorched

Polson Rural Fire responded to a fully engulfed ex-school bus used by a local rafting company on Saturday near Buffalo Bridge. The first engine on scene, a type 3 from an outlying station, was able to knock down and control the fire until resources from other stations could arrive to help with mop-up, according to R. Jack Clapp, Deputy Chief, Polson Rural Fire. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire also responded as there was potential for spread through nearby grasslands. The driver was alone in the vehicle, and nobody was injured, according to Clapp, who said the fire started in the rear of bus. “Most likely something overheated,” Clapp said.
