Warren Gustave Haugestuen

ARLEE — Warren Gustave Haugestuen was born in Barron, Wisc. Dec. 16, 1936 to Knute and Alma (Dalen) Haugestuen. In the early hours of Friday, April 29, 2011, surrounded by his family, Warren passed away from complication of pneumonia. He was only 74 years of age.

Warren received his education and graduated from high school in Chetek, Wisc. Warren served in the Army National Guard in Wisconsin. He and Carol Kay Hughes were married in Sand Creek, Wisc. Feb. 28, 1959.

Warren was self-employed most of his life. He successfully started and operated six different businesses, his last being a professional skull cleaner. Warren loved the outdoors of Montana. Fishing, hunting, traveling with his best friend and wife of 52 years, and hunting and fishing.

Warren and Carol were longtime members of Jocko Valley Lutheran Church in Arlee, Mont., and instrumental in the building and the establishment of this church. While living in Helena, they attended the New Life Lutheran Church. He was also involved in Jaycees of Ronan, and held memberships in many organizations involving sports and hunting.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Knute and Alma Haugestuen. He is survived by his wife Carol Kay Haugestuen of Helena; daughters, Pam Zuidgeest of Grand Rapids, Mich., Jill Ursua of Arlee, Jodi (Anthony) Rio of Stevensville; brothers, Curt (Yvonne) Haugestuen, Merlin (Patricia) Haugestuen and sister, Ardell (Jim) Nelson. Warren is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaylina Ursua (Joshua Clarkin), Anthony Rio, Kieran Ursua, Aaron Rio, Bridget Zuidgeest and Walter Zuidgeest and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 at New Life Lutheran Church on North Montana Avenue. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service. There will also be a second memorial service at Jocko Valley Lutheran Church, Highway 93 Arlee at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 10 with a reception to follow.
