Editor,
Bob McClellan’s recent letter concerning the Republicans vs. the Democrats reminds me of Abe Lincoln’s comment that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt. McClellan’s condescending tone and arrogance toward Republicans parallels that of the leader of the Democratic Party, Barack Obama.
Voting Republican, he says, “means almost nothing.” However he cites no specific evidence to support his claim. Democrats, he alleges “tend to be more independent, and sensible in thought, and more socially compassionate.” Rather than encouraging independence, Democrats have lured voters with promises of “free benefits.” Meanwhile, the federal debt approaches $18 trillion. Is this wise, sensible leadership?
Under the present administration, the D in Democrat stands for deception, deceit, and duplicity. Is it sensible and compassionate to destroy thousands of coal mining jobs while pursuing a failed green energy program such as Solyndra that was fraught with fraud and cronyism?
Millions of Americans have dropped out of the work force because this administration has failed to produce full time jobs. Many employers are unwilling to hire full time employees because of the onerous penalties and regulations associated with Obamacare.
The president seems obsessed with climate change, giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, many of whom have been convicted of violent crimes, and planning his many golf outings. Meanwhile millions of Americans are losing their healthcare policies or experiencing double-digit increases in premiums thanks to Obamacare. He lied to the American people about healthcare. Does he care? Is that socially compassionate?
It is obvious this Democratic president does not have Americans’ best interests at the top of his priorities. This administration lied about the Benghazi scandal and has been involved in a cover-up involving the IRS targeting conservative organizations for over two years.
In essence, voting Republican means to me voting against a Democratic administration that is hopelessly incompetent and a cesspool of corruption. Voting Republican means voting for an administration committed to job creation, entrepreneurship and a vibrant economy.
