Editor,
Privacy is important to me. I do not use the Internet, have a computer, or a credit card. I have a bank account and a debit card.
Recently I asked my son to check the Internet to see if there was information about me. I doubted there would be, but I was curious. My son found several places of abode listed that stated where I had lived. Other than Livingston, Montana, and seven years where I lived off and on in Mexico, I did not live in the towns and states; I did not live in the places listed on the web.
Of course, it baffled me. My son explained that “my info” was garnered by “drawing” addresses and listing them due to “association.” For example, I was listed as living in Helena, Montana, because my former husband had moved to Helena following our divorce.
If I desired info listed that was false, I could create a fantasy life, join Facebook, and share with anyone interested. My fantasy would be as true as whoever took it upon themselves to make a fantasy of my life.
Beware, people out there who desire privacy. It is no longer available.
