ST. IGNATIUS — The Lake County Sheriff's Office arrested 19-year-old Chase Kuntz of the St. Ignatius area last week for arson in connection with a June 5 fire that destroyed a log home on Airport Road.

Undersheriff Daniel Yonkin said the initial bond was set at $20,000, but was raised to $25,000 June 25 by recommendation of the county prosecutor.

St. Ignatius fire chief Martin Frazzini said all other questionable fires, including the Beckwith Mercantile building in St. Ignatius, remain under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, St. Ignatius fire department and the state fire marshal.

As of press time, charging documents on Kuntz had not been filed.

The sheriff’s office encourages anyone with information on the recent fires to call the Lake County Crimestoppers hotline at (406) 883-7309. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
