Editor,
Preserving property rights is critical to the general welfare and prosperity of farmers, ranchers, business owners, and citizens whose lives, livelihood, communities and well-being depends upon the ability to utilize their lands and to access water they have rights to for the purpose of their own choosing, not to satisfy the agenda of others whose actions would serve to limit those rights.
The Montana Land and Water Alliance has been formed to preserve and protect all rights and benefits associated with the ownership of property in the state of Montana. We exist to advocate for, protect and defend all aspects of property ownership by developing and advocating for appropriate legislation to strengthen property rights, and opposing legislation that is destructive of or impedes such rights; conducting and publishing research specific to property rights issues, providing public information and education, and pooling resources and soliciting donations to legally defend the constitutional and legal rights of property owners whose rights to possession, control, exclusion, enjoyment or disposition of property are negatively impacted by the actions of others, including federal, state, or tribal governments, their agencies, and individuals, organizations or corporations.
The Montana Land and Water Alliance opposes the CSKT compact because of its devastating impact on the property rights of individuals, family farms, and the economy of the rural communities of western Montana. We have initiated proactive action in protection of these rights. Please visit our website at www.landandwateralliance for more information, or contact us at MLWA, P.O. Box 1061, Polson, MT 59860.
