Ronan boys, Mission girls dust competition at divisional meet PABLO – The Ronan boys and the Mission girls cross country teams took first place at the Western B divisional at Silver Fox Golf Course Saturday in Pablo.
The Ronan cross country boys were led by Danny Romero and Brady Oakland and finished with a score of 51, while Plains finished in second with a score of 58. Romero led his team, finishing in third place with a time of 17:00, with Oakland finishing in sixth with a time of 18:01.
Also finishing in the top 15 for the Chiefs, Jaden McNair took 11th place with a time of 18:44, while Nate Rogers finished the course in 18:47 to land 14th place.
On the girls’ side, the Maidens finished third overall with a team score of 69.
Ashley Grandchamp led the Maidens, capturing fourth place after running the course in 21:08. The next Maiden to finish was Rachel Hardy, who took a 10th place time, 22:05.
Jade Gray ran the course in 22:38 to take 13th place.
The Lady Bulldogs placed five runners in the top 15 at the divisional meet and finished first with an impressive score of 37.
Ashley Courville led the team with a third place finish with a time of 20:45. Rose Bear Don’t Walk was a few spots behind coming in fifth with a time of 21:13, a whole minute and 13 seconds faster than her previous best. Jane Makepeace finished 27 seconds faster in 21:50 to take eighth. Following Makepeace was Kaylie Durglo, who finished 51 seconds better with a time of 22:01. Courtney Heath placed 14th and skimmed 30 seconds off her mark to finish 22:40. Courville, Bear Don’t Walk, Makepeace and Durglo were all awarded all-conference honors.
On the boys’ side, Paden Alexander paced the team with a time of 16:33 for second.
Besting his time by almost two minutes was Raymond Matt, who placed 12th with a time of 18:45. Dylan Evans also improved his time 18:53 by 14 seconds and Karl Daniels’ time of 19:49 was 47 seconds faster to place 31st. Stuart Grant finished 30th (19:48), Jamie Mullins was 35th (20:23) and Patrick Eichert clocked in a time of 22:41 for 47th place.
“(There were) many personal bests and athletes achieving all-conference honors,” head coach Patrick Murphy said. “It was another great weekend full of successes.”
