RONAN – Kicking Horse Job Corps students took time off from their studies to share a bit of holiday spirit with the residents of Mission Mountain Enterprises last week.
The Certified Nursing Assistant students laughed as glitter and feathers covered the floor while pinecones were turned into festive turkeys and plain paper was turned into hats and other head adornments.
Resident Patrick Campbell had tons of fun as he proudly displayed the feathered hat the students created for him.
Mission Mountain Enterprises Day Program Manager Jonathan Manuel said the organization was grateful for the students’ efforts.
“It’s good community support,” Manuel said. “Not a lot of people are willing to come in and offer their support for the developmentally disabled. It’s really nice. The kids are awesome. It’s something we’ve been doing for a long time. It’s a way for them to give back and for us to get involved.”
The students said the experience was “fun” and “rewarding.”
Instructor Malia Kipp said reaching out to MME residents is something students have been doing for more than 10 years, and that it is a good experience every year.
“It’s always fun,” Kipp said.
