Editor,

New year? How about this.  Here is one man's fanciful January 2030 look at an America whose "People Power" trumped "America's Greed and Money Power".

1)  The adjusted Affordable Care Act is working beautifully.   Everyone has the right to proper health care at affordable prices.  Our health care system is no longer controlled by the drug companies and insurance companies.  The U.S. ranks right at the top in world health in all categories.

2)  The members of Congress, 50% who are women, are now being elected into a system involving "term limits".  Not only is this working well, but it has raised the voting participation level to where at least 65% of eligible voters vote in every election.  America's new campaign finance laws have made it possible for many people to run for office who previously had no chance of running because of their limited finances.  The "Corporations Are People" act was stricken from the books and sensibility has been restored.

3)  America's lobby laws have been amended with such restrictions on corporate power and huge money interests that going into the lobby business is no longer even attractive to those leaving public office to make some real money.

4)  Our streamlined military, strong and lean, has actually made great use of thousands and thousands of the incarcerated population.  The American penal system has a very effective rehab program for convicts through excellent military training and supervision.  This has allowed the U.S. to close some prisons and reduce the prison population significantly.  The savings are in the billions each year.

5)  America, in response to environmental issues, has moved dramatically from fossil fuel dependency to wind and solar dependency and the results are astoundingly positive  economically and in greatly improved living conditions and overall health of our planet.

Just since back in 2015, the attitude shift from "money-power" to "people-power" has dramatically changed our national agenda.  And the world is applauding and responding to our leadership.
