New Year brings new projects for city of Polson

Happy New Year. It is hard to believe the first year of my term as mayor has already come and gone. 2014 was filled with positive growth, learning opportunities, adjustments, and certainly challenges for the City of Polson. This positive growth could not have been accomplished without the strong leadership of our city manager, the devoted team at City Hall, the professional attorneys and engineers who provide their technical expertise, our dedicated Commissioners, the collaboration with our fellow governmental entities, and the committed citizens who serve on our boards and attend meetings or send emails to offer input throughout the year.
While we worked to fulfill a wide array of business this past year, the primary focus was to determine the future of Polson’s wastewater treatment facility. A decision was made, and we are moving forward with building a new facility starting in spring 2015. Knowing the impact on our community weighs greatly on all of us, but I believe the right decision was made in the best interest of our citizens and the future of Polson.
In 2015 some things you can look forward to hearing, discussing and providing input on include an updated Polson Development Code, introduction of possible solutions to improve our streets and contribute to funding the wastewater treatment facility, the Government Study Commission’s research and direction on our local form of government, and Ordinance Recodification. It is certainly shaping up to be another busy, interesting, and important year for the City of Polson.
I am honored to have this opportunity to work with our community in this capacity. Please continue to reach out with input, ideas, and suggestions as we move forward. I wish you all the best in the coming year.
