Editor,

As a Tribal elder, I support what is in the best interest of the Tribe and membership.

Water compact? All Tribal members should receive a pamphlet with “all” information of what the 30-year rental contains in the Tribal resolution. The membership should receive a copy of the ESI agreement of the future and long range (30 years). Since 1985 the children have an IIM account that is half of their per capitas per year. The only promises of the future under ESI are economic development and language immersion schools. These sound like a throw in for Tribal support of the takeover. Are these the membership priority? This take over is with the memberships’ Salazar settlement money. Gray Wolf? I have a hard time believing a three-year feasibility study recommends a go-ahead with substantial reward ahead. Nevermind the wildlife corridor or the extra requirements the state had to do to satisfy this supposed Tribal commitment to the wildlife. What is most disgusting about this expansion, beyond the lack of common sense, former commitments, the membership’s money being wasted, is, the language the council uses amongst themselves about the membership’s negative opinions against the expansion. I believe this three-year feasibility study is solely based on what 10 members of council want, like many other attorneys, or whatever opinions they solicit. Common sense in any economic development is to use as much of the natural resources as possible. Hot Springs with the mud, hot water, throw in use of solar power, has unlimited potential both as a casino/resort and for medical purposes very beneficial for Tribal membership.

The 1985 Kerr Dam rental runs through 2015. The Kerr elderly was discontinued in March 2014, per capitas through August, then what?

Our Tribal Constitution gives supreme power to the membership. Use it before it’s too late.
