The Pirates pushed their winning streak to eight and inched closer to a regular-season conference title this week as Polson downed Libby and Eureka.

The Pirates had no trouble picking up a win in their final home game of the season Saturday as Polson downed visiting Libby 64-33.

Polson jumped out to a quick 19-6 lead after the opening quarter and led 25-8 at the halftime break. The Pirates continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring the Loggers 39-25 over the final 16 minutes to pull away for the blowout victory.

Louis Mohr led the Pirates with 19 points in the win while Kyle Bagnell chipped in with 16.

Polson took command of the game early, outscoring the Lady Loggers 16-3 in the opening quarter. Libby bounced back with a strong second quarter, outscoring Polson 13-6 to cut the Lady Pirate lead to 22-19 at the half.

Polson opened up its lead again in the third quarter, outscoring Libby 14-4 to take a 26-20 lead into the final quarter. Libby outscored Polson 17-11 over the final eight minutes but could not complete the comeback as the Lady Pirates held on for the win.

Kenney led the way for Polson with 20 points in the win while Kelley added 11, Jonna Grant had nine points, Mariah Hamel scored four and Nina Orozco-Charlo added three.

The first and third quarters were also the difference Thursday as the Lady Pirates picked up a 57-21 win at Eureka.

Polson led 10-2 after one quarter of play but both teams scored 11 in the second as the Lady Pirates led 21-13 at the half.

Kelley and Orozco-Charlo combined to score 17 in the third quarter as Polson used a 24-5 run to build a 45-18 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play. Polson continued to pull away with a 12-3 run in the fourth.
