Editor,

It would seem like traffic enforcement picks and chooses which ordinances to enforce. Every week I see multiple seatbelt violations. My safety and wellbeing is not affected if someone chooses not to wear their seatbelt; however, it is effected by 90-plus ignoring the mud flap and rock guard ordinance (Montana Code Annotated, 61-9-407). I have yet to see a citation for this violation, even though more than 90 percent of light trucks are in violation. I have many broken windshields at $600 for my Subaru.

Regarding Montana Code Annotated 61-9-217, I am tired of being blinded by these out-of-code fog lamps.

Truck speed limit applies to any truck over 2,000 pounds manufacture-rated capacity, derived by subtracting curb weight from maximum gross vehicle weight. This includes many half tons and all three-quarter tons on up. Again, I see no citations for violating truck speed limits.
