Editor,
Have you ever wondered how we as a community could effectively help those around us in need? Wouldn’t it be great if there was an organization that helped coordinate providing emergency assistance to Lake County residents as well as to folks traveling through our area? Instead of having those in need try to depend on bulky government agencies to help, shouldn’t our communities of faith step in to provide Christ’s hand of fellowship?
The ministerial association provides such a connection for those in need and it’s called Helping Hands. This group is the contact organization for local churches and individuals to direct needy folks and help them get the assistance they require. The group is funded by donations from local congregations, the Salvation Army bell ringers and an upcoming event called the Helping Hands Spring Music Festival. Local musicians, church choirs and instrumentalists will all collaborate to provide an uplifting and honoring celebration of music for participants and the audience as well.
Please consider joining the mass choir or coming to enjoy the concert at the Polson Catholic Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. A spaghetti dinner will be provided by the Knights of Columbus right after the concert. Donations to the Helping Hands Fund will be accepted during the festival; please direct questions to Toni Young at (406) 883-1676 or Val Lindstrom at (406) 883-4160. If you would like to participate as a musician, please contact Donna Rowold at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or myself at the Mission Valley Christian Academy. Thanks for considering joining us for this worthy event.
