BIGFORK — The Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation scholarship applications are due on Friday, May 29 to attend the sixth annual Crown Guitar Workshop held on Aug. 30-Sept. 6. Five new scholarships, sponsored by the Salish Kootenai College Foundation, are available for students, teachers and performers of all ages who live in the Mission Valley. The workshop will be held at Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork.
The scholarship provides a rare opportunity to study with a roster of premier guitarists who will be teaching and performing as Artists in Residence, including Grammy®-winner Dweezil Zappa and Tim Miller, a member of the Berklee College of Music.
Teacher and performer applicants need to have taught guitar or been performing for at least two years and have been a resident of the Mission valley area for at least one year. Guitar teachers can be either teaching privately or in a school setting. They must complete an application and write an essay about the role of guitar in their life and submit a recording. Financial need will be taken into consideration.
Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 29 with scholarship awards announced on Monday, June 15. For complete information about the Crown Guitar Workshop and Festival, including videos from prior years, visit the website www.crownguitarfest.org.
