POLSON — Lake County Commissioners and emergency services officials met Monday morning to discuss the current fire hazard situation due to recent warm weather and lack of moisture.
As of press time, commissioners were seriously considering a fireworks ban for the entire county. Whether that includes Polson’s public fireworks display is not known.
An emergency declaration will be made stating that an emergency exists due to increasing fire danger and the likelihood of hazardous fire activity.
As of 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 3, Lake County will be under Stage 1 Fire restrictions.
The Lake County Commissioners and Office of Emergency Management would like to ask for the public’s help in ensuring the safety of life and property by following these restrictions and understanding the danger that exists. Those who violate the ban are subject to fines plus financial liability for any damage, injury or fires caused by fireworks.
