CASPER, WYOMING — Mission Valley FFA took three members of its livestock judging team to Casper College in Wyoming last week for a judging camp. The 2015 state champions continued to rake in awards, with Josey Motichka bringing home first place overall and first place in the cattle division. Laurel Rigby placed third in sheep judging, second in the swine division, and second place in the reasons category. Courtnee Clairmont took fifth place in reasons category and third place in sheep judging.
The team competed against teams from Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Washington, Idaho, and Nebraska and received coaching from the Casper collegiate judging team and Casper College Coach Jeremy Burkett.
The team, which also includes Micah McClure, will compete in the FFA National tournament in September in Louisville, Kentucky. Fundraisers to help the team reach its $10,000 goal to travel to the competition are ongoing. See any FFA team member or sponsor Reese McAlpin for more information about raffles and other fundraising opportunities.
