ST. IGNATIUS — When you play the Lady Bulldogs, you had better be ready to play as soon as you hit the field, because they come out swinging.

Sahriha Camacho didn’t waste time getting things started against Corvallis at home April 21 when she cracked in a three-run home run in Mission-Arlee-Charlo's first inning. The Lady Bulldogs took the early 5-0 lead in the opening inning and never let up.

Kinley Pope complemented Camacho’s hit, going 3-for-3 with a solo home run.

“We came out strong and started hitting,” said head coach Susan Weaselhead. “(Corvallis) had a good pitcher; they are a good team.”

Loren Erickson also provided backup, walking one and allowing just two hits.

Weaselhead said she thought over the past week her batters have adjusted well to different pitchers. She also credited a strong defensive presence in the outfield and infield.

“Our defense has stopped the runs … the infield isn’t letting the ball get past them,” Weaselhead added.

She also noted the play of Emilie Charlo, who has filled in for Connor Smith on first base after Smith injured her hamstring.

“Emilie Charlo has done a nice job,” Weaselhead said.

On April 20, MAC also took down Loyola Sacred Heart, 12-0.

Sara Nerby hit a solo home run, and the Lady Bulldogs won the Western B-C contest in five innings due to the 10-run margin rule.

Erickson allowed seven hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Janeal McDonald and Sahriha Camacho each went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Kinley Pope doubled.

The Lady Bulldogs also faced Ronan April 17 and slipped past the Maidens, 7-6. The Lady Bulldogs played at Florence Tuesday before facing Drummond at home Friday and traveling to Troy Saturday.
