MONTANA — With a desire to preserve and pass down her story to the younger generation of her family, former Flathead Valley resident Mary Ellen Connelly has published an insightful memoir, “Window To The Big Sky.”

Her book houses a series of short stories that vividly depict a variety of events that shaped the author’s life and the lives of her husband and children.

Connelly was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Her family moved to Montana when her father transferred as a section foreman on the Great Northern Railroad. She grew up in Pinnacle on Marias Pass and graduated from Whitefish High School.

Connelly has been active as president and district president of the Woman’s Club, an international service organization. She served as chair of the Flathead United Way and raised the highest amount in donations up to that time. She reported local news for the Whitefish Pilot newspaper. Connelly has been interested in politics since fourth grade and was elected in 1982 and served five terms in the Montana House of Representatives. She was appointed to the powerful Appropriations and Budget committee and later appointed to chair the long-range planning sub-committee. She was selected “Woman of the Year” in Flathead County and has received other honors as well. She currently lives in Valley Springs, California.

Her book is available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
