Gerald Charles Doty

RONAN — Our loving father and granddad passed away Jan. 1, 2012 from a heart attack at St. Luke Hospital. Gerald was born Sept. 11, 1926 in Saco, Mont. to Gerald and Verna Doty. There he was raised along with two brothers, Dick ad Kenneth and a twin sister, Shirley. Gerald had two loving parents that loved him very much. He joined the Navy and served on a destroyer during World War II. Shortly after returning home he met the love of his life, a beautiful redhead from Beach, North Dakota, Better Orr, our wonderful mother. They were married in Baker, Mont. on July 13, 1949. Soon they were blessed with three children, Randy, Cindy and Dan. They moved to Missoula where they lived for three years, then moved to Charlo where they managed a dairy farm and later bought their own dairy farm where Dotyville started. Gerald and Bette were excellent dairy farmers.

After selling their herd to their daughter and son-in-law they bought Westside Rest Home in Ronan. Upon retiring they enjoyed their many grandchildren, and Gerald spent time fishing with family. After his loving wife passed away he moved back to the farm where he had lived for many years, enjoying farming and gardening. But most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was able to live by himself up until he passed away.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bette, son Dan, sister Shirley Scheele, brother Ken Doty and grandson Seth Perry.

He is survived by a brother Dick Doty (Velma), sister-in-law Ramona Doty, son Randy (Rita Mae), daughter Cindy (Stan) and sister-in-law Faye Abrahamson (Wendell) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. We will all miss him so much, but know he is happy with family again.

Graveside services were held Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Mountain View Cemetery in Ronan.
