Editor,
The Red Poppy Art Gallery is a favorite of mine when I visit Ronan. This little jewel of an art gallery has long been a part of the Ronan scene, and affects everyone including the 3- to 5-year-old ballerinas, eyeing themselves in huge mirrors, their cute little tutus swaying as they tiptoe across the stage with an audience of moms, aunts, and sisters smiling broadly.
I’ve been very lucky to attend classes every time I’ve been in Ronan with Olivia Olsen, who never disappoints. Her skill and creativeness as a teacher are so appreciated by many in Ronan, from teenager, Alex, to regular attendees, including Juanita, who along with Olivia donates time and paintings to worthy causes in the community. Both are preparing for the “famous shootout” coming up in two weeks to benefit a local charity, and I haven’t even mentioned the classes for pottery, printmaking, drawing, acrylics, oils, and watercolors, as well as Yoga, Tai Chi, and exercises classes available to all in the community.
While I do not and did not know the owners, Julia and Donn Borden, I’m thankful that Julia’s vision for a gallery is recognized and appreciated by Donn through his continued support for the arts.
Kudos to you, Ronan. You can be very proud that this gallery continues to inspire kids, teens and adults of all ages, not to mention the benefit realized by area charities.
