Editor,

It was a special evening Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Polson as we gathered to raise funds to "Save the Museum." The board of directors for the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana wishes to express its deep and sincere gratitude to our friends and neighbors who joined forces to bring the realization of funding the purchase of the museum building even closer.

The delicious meal created by chef Richard Santorno finished with a scrumptious Sicilian wedding cake by Richard's wife, Sherlee. Their untiring work enabled over 100 people to partake in this fundraising event.

As you may know, Bud Cheff Sr. passed away early Monday morning. Since the museum opened, Bud was an integral part of the museum's focus to share the stories of all who traveled through the valleys and mountains of our beautiful part of the world. He deeply enjoyed singing and drumming to the delight of young visitors in the diorama room and made his last appearance just this year at age 96. His presence on the board will be sorely missed.

With your support, we hope to be able to continue sharing the stories and legacies of friends and family members with displays at the museum that are available for all to enjoy for many years to come. Thank you for helping make this dream come true.
