SPOKANE, WASHINGTON — Bert McCollum was born July 31, 1943, in St. Ignatius. He died Nov. 2, 2015, in Spokane, Washington. After graduation from St. Ignatius High School in 1961, he worked locally. Later, he attended and graduated from Big Sky Barber College in Missoula.
In the early 1980s he moved to Spokane to be with his life partner, Randy. Bert worked as a barber at Dan’s Barber Shop until his death.
His parents, Helen and Roy McCollum; his brothers, Roger and Dan; sister, Florence Lockwood; his life partner, Randy Merrill; and his friends, Ron Plouffee and Brian Baer, preceded him in death.
Bert’s brother Gary (Jan); sister Marie (Marvin) Taber; nieces and nephews; special friends Carol Plouffe and her children: Bruce Overbeck, Gaylon Hughes, Helen Baer and son; and many friends and co-workers survive him.
At Bert’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
