LIBBY – On Friday the Chiefs kept it close in the first half at Libby but returned home with a 40-56 loss.
Ronan led 17-15 at the close of the first quarter thanks to a three-pointer by Jackson Duffey in the final seconds. With the Chiefs on top 23-20 with 4:25 to go before the half, the Loggers scored seven unanswered to take the 27-23 lead at halftime. The Chiefs didn’t score again until Kasey Mock hit 2 with 4 minutes to go in the third. The Loggers wouldn’t let up, pulling further away despite a solid 13-point Ronan run in the fourth.
Mock led with 13 points, including two 3-pointers, and seven rebounds. Zeke Misa scored 9 points, Elijah Cahoon chipped in 7 points and six rebounds while Aaron Misa snagged seven boards.
Ronan earned a 52-46 victory over Frenchtown on Saturday in front of hometown fans.
With Frenchtown jumping to an early lead, the Chiefs overcame a 13-point deficit and continued to fight, playing catch-up throughout the third and fourth quarters. With less than 5 minutes left in the game, Ronan came alive as Aaron Misa was fouled on a made bucket. He hit his free throw, putting Ronan ahead 43-41. Frenchtown’s key misses at the charity stripe, coupled with the Chiefs’ defensive rebounds and sharp shooting as the clock wound down helped Ronan surge to the 52-46 win.
Aaron Misa double-doubled with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Perry Panzetanga was in the zone, scoring five of five attempts with one beyond the 3-point line — plus all three free throws — for 14 total points. Cahoon chipped in 12 points.
The Chiefs will host Mission Friday night.
