Michael Dennis Trahan

RONAN — Michael Dennis Trahan, 69, passed away at his home near Ronan on Dec. 8, 2015.

A member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe, he was born to Lyman Luke Trahan and Curley Burland on Oct. 10, 1946, in St. Ignatius. He was raised in St. Ignatius by Mary (Pichette) and Luke attending the Ursulines’ St. Ignatius Schools, Chilocco Indian Agricultural School and graduated from Busby Indian School. 

After his education, he logged with his father’s L&M Logging; served in the US Army (1965–1972) during the Vietnam Era and became a heavy equipment operator upon his return. In his free time he enjoyed rodeos, camping, loved to dance and hanging out with his friends at the local pubs and playing pool.

Michael’s parents Luke, Mary and Curley; a brother Art and Art’s wife, Gloria; his sister, Dixie; his niece, BJ and son, Mike Morigeau, all precede him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Caro; his daughters, Ronda (Joe) and Jodie Trahan and her husband; his son, Marlin McDonald; his step-son, Buck (Jill) McAllister; his brothers, Jim (Karen) Skelton and Ron (Vi) Trahan; his niece, Merilee (Grant); numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren, especially Bradlee (Turquoise) Hartwell, Koby and Micalyn Garcia.

Military services were held at the Ronan City Park on Friday, Dec. 11.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Humane Society in Mike’s name.
