Eugene Farly “Gene” Scott

POLSON – Eugene Farly “Gene” Scott, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at his residence in Polson. He was born on June 11, 1938, in Worthington, Minnesota.

He graduated from Worthington High School in 1956 and then attended Worthington Junior College for two years. While working for Toro Manufacturing in Windom, Minnesota, he met Kay Evans. They were married on Nov. 5, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He worked at Northwestern National Bank of Minneapolis and at Roseville State Bank for a number of years. Two boys, Jeff and Marc, were born there. In 1968, they decided to get out of the rat race and move west. They settled in Pablo, Montana. A daughter Tiffany was born there.

He went to work at the Plum Creek Timber Company in Pablo. He held various positions while working at Plum Creek and retired in 1994 as Purchasing Agent and Safety Director.

After retirement, he and Kay built a new home in Polson and during a trip south one winter he decided to paint wildlife on feathers ... and a new career was born. He displayed his art in several art galleries and was invited to attend the Silver Dollar City Craftsman and Art Festival in Branson, Missouri, for several years.

Gene loved to hunt and fish and travel with his wife Kay to the southern states in the winter.

Gene’s daughter, Tiffany; son, Jeffrey; granddaughter, Kari Jo; and his parents precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Marc (Deborah); brother, Herb; and three sisters, Dorothy Lawrence, Helen Boldt and Minnie Apel; six grandchildren, Kim, Brittany (Ryan), Janel, Tiara Duford, Jordan and Trevor and four great-grandchildren.

At his request, no services will be held.
