News from the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association

POLSON — The Mission Valley Ice Arena Association wishes each of you the very best for the new year, 2016. Our board members took a little break for the holidays, and will be back at it, working toward raising money for our project this month.

At the Missoula Maulers’ home game Jan. 14, we held our banner and wore our MVIAA gear with pride and handed out candies and information.

A few things to report: we have received notice that the IRS is currently reviewing our 501(c)3 application. We should know in a few months if we are approved or if we need to add to our application. We are nearly there. In the meantime, if you wish to make a donation, The Greater Polson Community Foundation has graciously agreed to pass donations made through their non-profit to us, as long as the donation is accompanied by a letter or note indicating that the MVIAA is the non-profit recipient. A big thanks to those who have already donated through the GPCF, and thanks to the GPCF for supporting and encouraging philanthropy in our beautiful area. You can send your donation to Greater Polson Community Foundation at P.O. Box 314, Polson, MT 59860.

We are continuing our first matching challenge. One of our founding donors, local business woman Carmine Mowbray, has generously donated $25,000 for us to use once we match that amount. Let’s get the donations coming in.

Remember, we have an anonymous donor who has pledged the last $1 million. That means the association only needs to raise $3 million.

Our second raffle is now open. We will be selling raffle tickets for a very nice hunting rifle, scope, and a few rounds. You can see the rifle and details on posters around town, as well as on our latest Facebook post. If you are interested, contact us and we will send you an email with all the rifle specs. In the meantime, if you are a sportsman, you can find tickets at Total Screen Design (40735 Highway 35 in Polson) and at Turnage, Mercer, and Wall, PLLP (312 First St. E, Polson).

Many thanks to all who have contacted us with suggestions or questions so far. We may begin calling upon those interested in volunteering in the spring and summer for local events, so please let us know if you would be interested in helping. Your support means so much, and it will carry this project through to an exciting finish. Feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have. Thank you for your support.
