RONAN — Barnaby and Heather Smith and family recently announced that Amy Vaughan was the winner of the adoption fundraiser rifle raffle. Vaughn’s winning ticket for a Savage rifle with scope was drawn on the Nov. 28. The Smiths want to thank the community for supporting their efforts during the past year in raising money to help pay for $47,000 in adoption expenses needed to adopting a 12-year-old girl from China. They also thank Rob Shrider and Ronan Sports and Western for their help with the rifle, Kim and Kim Koenig of Mission Valley Printing for help with the tickets, Trent and Troy Yost of Dobson Creek Coffee where the winning ticket was sold and Walmart for allowing the Smiths to sell tickets in their entryway. Additional thanks to Gabe and Leah Johnson and Jim and Melanie Glanz for their help in selling tickets.
The Smith’s adoption process continues as they are now awaiting travel approval, which they expect around the end of February or March. While they wait for the approval, they are finishing up the last 10-12 hours of adoption education (making it 32 hours of education total), and applying for their visas. After everything goes through with immigration, they will get to travel to China to bring their new daughter home.
To help cover some of the remaining $30,000 in cost there will be a “For The Love” Valentine’s Banquet held at Terrace Lake Church on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. The cost will be $25 per person and will include a prime rib dinner, live music byThe Wildflowers and a dessert auction. The banquet is limited to 100 seats. For more information and tickets,, contact Amy Toelke at 406-676-5150. Tickets can also be purchased at Dobson Creek Coffee.
