Jean L. Orr

MISSOULA — Jean L. Orr, 89, passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, at Bee Hive Homes in Missoula. She was born in the train depot at Bearmouth, Montana, on Nov. 30, 1926, to James and Rebecca Wilson. She lived along the tracks in St. Regis where her father was a station agent until her senior year in high school when the family moved to Ronan. After high school she attended two years of nursing school at MSU Bozeman where Dick Morrison danced his way into her life. They spent 27 years together in the Charlo/Moise area. She started work as a clerk in the Charlo post office in 1958 and went on to become the Postmaster at St. Ignatius, in 1974. There she met her soul mate Alvin Orr. After retiring, she and Alvin spent “the best years of my life” snow birding to Arizona where they met a whole new group of lifelong friends.

She is survived by her brother, Robert (Charlotte) Wilson; son, Dan Morrison; stepchildren Sharon Orr, Jerry (Kathy) Orr, Tim (Peggy) Orr, Jeanie (Dean) Saylor, Shorty (Anita) Matt and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Jean’s parents; husbands Dick and Alvin and stepson Gary Orr all preceded her in death.

Special thanks to her “daughter/caretaker” Lisa Haugen for her years of looking after Mom when she was alone and suffered the terrible disease of macular degeneration. Also, special thoughts go to her other daughters, Mavis and Roy and to Sharon, caretaker of Rosie the cat.

Cremation has taken place and at her request no services are planned.
