Editor,
The Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County co-hosted with the KwaTaqNuk Resort a community breakfast honoring the original founders of the club and the Schnase family. The event was attended by many of our dear friends, supporters of the club including individuals, organizations and businesses from the surrounding area.
Greeted by numerous friends and caring community partners, our family was recognized with thoughtful and kind appreciation. Our family was overwhelmed by the generous, warm reception. From the bottom of our hearts we thank all of you.
The Katherine Schnase Permanent Endowment Fund will remain with the club as long as it exists. The purpose of the endowment fund is to eventually give the Boys and Girls Club sustainable operating income that keeps the club open for the members by way of its dividends and earnings without using the main corpus. Katherine likes that idea.
Since leaving the club two years ago I feel the vision of the club remains sound and it is in good hands with the new director, staff and active board of directors. This community can rest assured that their support of the club is resources well-spent and a positive asset. Please continue your support for the children and parents who need this valued opportunity.
In closing I must say that I also received a gift from one of the club members that morning. After being gone two years that gesture just shows that what we do can make a difference. This act is one of the highlights of my life and I accept it with sheer joy. I expect that friendship will last a long time.
Again, our humble thanks to this great community and the Boys and Girls Club.
John Schnase
