The sold out “For The Love” Valentines Dinner Adoption Fundraiser and Dessert Auction with delicious food and beautifully crafted ambience was held at Terrace Lake Community Church on Feb. 13. It was an amazing success as it raised $7,491 to go toward the total $47,000 needed to adopt a 12-year-old girl from China this March.
On behalf of my wife and family, we want to thank the many people in our community who worked selflessly to make this event so much fun for everyone. Huge thank yous go to a core group of people and their congregations from Terrace Lake Community Church and Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church who hosted and organized the event and the people to make it happen. Also thanks to the generous people from the community who planned, decorated, worked, baked, cooked, served and cleaned. Specific thank yous go to Thrivent Financial for the seed money needed to get it started, “The Wildflowers” Mark and Krysti Reichman for their beautiful music, to Reed Tobol for his amazing and fun work with the pie auction, to Cornerstone Faith Center of St. Ignatius for prayers and financial support and to Dobson Creek Coffee for their delicious hot coffee.
The adoption is now fully funded as a few new grants have promised to help with the rest of the needed funds. We estimate that throughout the last few years this amazing community has helped fund this adoption by donating $24,000 of the $47,000 originally thought to be needed.
Our travel was approved Thursday, so we get to meet her for the first time and bring her home in March.
