Editor,
Hats off to the Polson boys’ basketball team and coaches for their heartwarming display of sportsmanship at the Class A State Tournament in Missoula last weekend.
During the final seconds of the Pirates’ Saturday morning win over Hardin, Hardin inserted a special needs player into the game. The Pirates allowed the player to shoot an uncontested three-pointer, rebounded the miss, and tossed the ball out to him for another shot. Again, the shot was missed, but the Pirates rebounded and gave him another opportunity before the game ending buzzer.
Even being an “Orange and Black” guy, it is great to see a team and coaches who understand that the game is not all about competition. Class always shows.
