Editor,
To the administrative staff of University of Montana and Learfield Sports: It is so disappointing to see such a wonderful broadcaster as Mick Holien being treated with so much disrespect. On March 5, the men's Griz Basketball played Northern Colorado. It was Mick’s last home game of the season since he was forced to retire this year. He has selflessly given to everyone: football, basketball players, fans, students, and administrative staff. He has never missed a game in the history of calling 1,200 games through the years.
Did anyone from the administrative staff or Learfield Sports give him the accolades that he so well deserved for his many years of service? Not one word was voiced from anybody, not “excellent job, well done, thank you, we really appreciate you,” nothing. Shame on you. Mick’s heart and soul, play-by-play were in every game that he has ever broadcast for you.
Thank you, Mick, for everything that you have accomplished in your life. We love you — from your devoted fans and friends.
