Editor,
Jesus Christ, heaven’s perfect human (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22) is alive (1 Corinthians 15:20). The tomb is empty (John 20). Hundreds of Israelis saw, heard and touched his resurrected body (Mark 16:1-7; Luke 24:33-37; John 20:19-20; Acts 1:3; 1 Corinthians 15:3-7). This one historic fact, 2,000 years ago on the 16th day of Nisan, A.D. 32, is that God raised up the crucified, dead and buried Jesus Christ from the tomb; spelling the total defeat of Satan’s kingdom and the victorious reign of God’s Kingdom in his one and only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amid a world blinded by Satan, blighted by sin and blasted by terroristic warfare, and amid the gloomy fears and perplexing problems which loom on the political horizon, the one bright spot which provides solid comfort and hope for the future is that Jesus Christ is alive. His resurrection means that God’s kingdom shall come and his purposes shall be accomplished on earth and in America as they are established in heaven (Mathew 6:10).
God is not dead.
People everywhere who claim Jesus as Savior and Lord of their lives should pray that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, which now resides in every true believer by the presence of the Holy Spirit, that this power will be demonstrated in holy living and selfless service (Galatians 5:19-26) to family members, working colleagues, friends and neighbors; if we do, the Mission Valley will be a much better place to live under God’s heaven for all of us who call this beautiful place our home.
May we without reservation embrace these words which the Apostle Paul included in his letter to the new believers in Philippi: “Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear; for God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Philippians 2:12b-13).
