The school year has rounded the final corner and Ronan/Pablo Schools has now completed three out of four quarters of the academic year. As the last day of classes on June 9th nears, I wanted to remind our community about the many remaining events held in our facilities.
I remain in utmost support of providing as many events as possible that can be held for our students, parents, and community. I believe that we all benefit when a local event allows us to sleep in our own beds and provide experiences locally that support our families. Regularly held events have included sport gatherings, musical concerts, and theatrical performances. Each local offering not only enriches our community, it generates new customers for our business partners throughout Ronan and Pablo.
“With that said,” the question of hosting additional events (basketball, Relay for Life, concerts etc.) in our facilities has come up. The reality is that with the combined efforts of our Booster Club, business community, and vast number of volunteers, we are able to pursue those efforts. The competition for hosting has gotten more competitive as other communities are all seeking the same opportunities. I pledge that we will continue to seek to secure additional events for our facilities.
The district prints calendars and maintains electronic guides to coming events. I encourage each of you to review the calendars to see what is coming in the closing months of the 2015-16 school year. Our students know when you attend and they absolutely appreciate your presence in the crowd. Our district page offers an updated schedule, which can be found online at http://www.ronank12.edu/
Lastly, I want to thank the Mission Valley Senior Citizens Inc. for sending me a note requesting consideration of designated parking spaces in close proximity to our facilities. They asked, “would it be feasible?” I’m proud to say that our facilities are up to the challenge. Can we help the Mission Valley Senior Citizens? Absolutely. As we launch our summer maintenance projects, the district will create designated event parking spaces for our seniors in close proximity to the entrances. The Mission Valley Seniors went on to share that they believe such parking amenities would encourage more seniors to attend the many “Special Events” that are held throughout the year in our schools. I applaud and thank our seniors for offering their suggestions with class and positivity. Our seniors have given a considerable amount of time to our community and regularly attend events in support of our schools and their families. I’m pleased they feel comfortable asking for support in return so they can continue to attend and remain engaged. My hat goes off to our country’s Greatest Generation who has earned a heartfelt thanks for their commitment to stay involved.
