Jeanette Mary Clason Lundeen

POLSON — Jeanette Mary Clason Lundeen, 95, years old, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Polson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Polson. Jeanette was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Lewistown to John Halifax Clason and Nettie (Westover) Clason. She was the fifth of seven children.

She grew up in the depression where she learned gratitude, hard work and honesty. Jeanette loved her siblings and was especially close to her younger brother Richard Clason.

She and her husband Marvin Elroy Lundeen were married on the 23rd of Sept., 1939.  In their early-married years, they worked on cattle ranches in South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. She was terrified of horses and cattle but loved to garden and tend the chickens. Jeanette cooked for the work crew and no one ever went hungry when she was around. Her family appreciated all the wonderful roast dinners, pies, cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies and fabulous meals that she prepared.

In 1956 Marvin and Jeanette moved to Polson where she worked at the telephone company and after that Eddies Drug Store where she served up the most delicious ice cream in town. Her favorite job was as a seamstress at Dr. Deal’s plush fabric productions. Later she worked at the same convalescent care center where she passed away.

Jeanette was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed for all time and eternity to the love of her life, Marvin, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. She served and enjoyed a family history mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loved her ward family here in Polson. Her passion was her family. Jeanette showed love and support to her children and grandchildren by attending their countless activities. She taught them many valuable life lessons and bonded well with each one.

Jeanette played the piano and loved music. Growing up she played piano in the family band and this talent stayed with her, her whole life. Frequently, Jeanette moved across town. She had to have her heavy upright grand piano moved with her. (Pump up your muscles boys, Grandma’s moving and the piano goes too!) The family joke was that it would be her tombstone when she died.

Her husband Marvin Lundeen who died in 1979, and John Sanford who passed away in 1981 after their short marriage, both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was Arnie, her eldest son, who died in an auto accident at the age of 22. Her beloved younger brother Richard Clason also predeceases her.

Survivors include four children and two daughters-in-law: Virginia (Ginny) Lundeen Hawkaluk of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Roy Lundeen of Bremerton, Washington, and his wife Lynda (Franklin); Janice Lundeen of Helena, and Lester Lundeen of Polson and his wife Becky (Arlint) Lundeen. Jeanette had 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren who all called her Grandma “Dean.”

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at The Lake Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 29, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1202 Fourth Ave. E, Polson. A picnic in her honor will be held after the memorial service on Sunday in the cultural hall. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at: www.thelakefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
