ANACONDA – The Ronan Maidens walked away from this weekend’s Western B-C as Champions. Although champions, the road to that final game didn’t come easy. The Maidens beat Florence (17-7) and Libby (11-1) on Friday, May 20, to set themselves up in the semi-final game against Anaconda the following day. The two teams have played each other four times this season and all games went in the Maidens’ favor. The Maidens beat Anaconda 14-10 in the semi-final game. In the Championship game, Ronan was down 3-10 in the bottom of the seventh. After the Maidens scored three run, Jordyn Clairmont stepped up to the plate with two runners on base and two outs. The Maidens needed two runs to tie the game or three runs to win. Well, Clairmont gave the Maidens the extra push they needed to win the game. Clairmont hit a triple to score two runs and ended the game crossing home plate to give the Maidens a 9-8 win over Anaconda.
The team will travel to Kalispell May 26-28 for their chance at winning the State title.
