Editor,
In a recent letter to the editor Craig McClure suggested that, as your Representative for Montana House District 12, I need to “Lead, follow or get out of the way.” Whether through my private sector experience as a business owner or through my public sector experience serving the folks of HD 12, I’ve proven myself a leader time and time again. In the 2015 legislative session we passed 93 million dollars in infrastructure spending bills, which I voted for. When I saw how SB 416, the largest of the infrastructure bills, offered little benefit on a statewide basis and rewarded Helena lobbyist, I offered an alternative. Governor Bullock and his allies refused a simple compromise that would have funded more than 30 school projects and 75 water and sewer projects across Montana rather than his two pet projects. Over the past two legislative sessions, I worked hard for my constituents to pass good legislation and oppose bad legislation. If reelected, I’ll continue to do so. Though Mr. McClure’s letter was filled with fallacies and Democrat talking points, I don’t blame him for writing it. Being a partisan and attacking Republicans literally is his job. After all, Mr. McClure is the Chairman of the Lake County Democrats, which he failed to disclose to the public in his letter.
Representative Greg Hertz, HD 12
