Editor,
Wow, what an experience. This year I had the opportunity to go the Women 4 Wellness clinic (normally I am working). Again, I find myself not only grateful for what takes place there but humbled by our community that truly cares about others. Salish Kootenai College hosted the event. All manner of help was available from counseling, to blood testing, to info about where to go for help. Medical personnel from all around the area attend with equipment for all kinds of free testing. Entry to the event cost $5 of food for the food pantries. St. Luke, Providence St. Joseph, Western Montana Clinic, SAFE Harbor are just a few of many, many vendors covering the whole Joe McDonald event center up and down. What a spectacle. Thank you, one and all, for all your hard work to make a difference for our neighbors.
In addition, the food pantries for the different communities in the valley were able to set up outside to give out information, take donations, etc. This year we were fortunate to have St. Ignatius, Polson and The Bread Basket food pantries represented throughout the day. Much food was collected and shared between the food pantries. As secretary of The Bread Basket, I want to thank everyone for taking part. It was great to see you. Thanks so much for all the food. Thanks so much, also, to the Women 4 Wellness committee for donating the entrance fees to the food pantries. Many will benefit.
Do yourself a favor — don’t miss Women 4 Wellness next year.
