Editor,
Sharing art and culture with youngsters is a very rewarding endeavor. With the support of the Blackfoot Telecommunications Group, the Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana hosted a workshop led by Steven Small Salmon on Wednesday, Aug. 3 for children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County. Mr. Small Salmon delved into his suitcase to show the eager boys and girls the many pieces he created for powwow dances, and he also instructed the children on the Salish words for certain objects. The rapport between students and teacher was fun and lively. We appreciate the community support from Blackfoot, which also helped bring Beth Watne of Montana Wild Wings Recovery Center to the museum for a workshop on July 20. Thank you, Blackfoot, for helping make these summer workshops possible. We hope everyone will have the chance to stop by the museum during the month of August to enjoy the watercolor prints of artist Janet McGahan.
