News from the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest

POLSON — The Flathead Lake International Cinemafest and Polson’s Showboat Cinemas are screening two award winning car culture documentaries during Anderson Broadcasting’s Summerfest Car Show in mid-August. FLIC’s 2016 Best Picture Documentary, “The Bus”, screens at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13. “The Bug Movie” screens at the same dates and times on Screen 2. Both films were produced and directed by Missoula’s Damon Ristau. “The Bus” playfully explores how a post-WWII German utility vehicle evolved into a cultural icon that represents freedom and the open road.

“The Bug Movie” tells the story of the most beloved and recognizable automobile on Earth, the Volkswagen Beetle. Take in both movies at the Showboat Cinemas at 416 Main Street, and then step out the front door to enjoy one of the premiere car shows in the northwest. Screening tickets are $2.50. The Flathead Lake International Cinemafest – which bills itself as the most beautiful film festival in the world – celebrates its fifth annual film festival the weekend of Jan. 20-22, 2017.
