Editor,
Now that all of the dogs removed from the LDR Kennels are finally getting medical care, it has become increasingly clear that the horrors of that place go well beyond neglect, discomfort, and matted fur caked with urine and feces. Most of these dogs had extensive dental infections, rotting and missing teeth, etc. One dog’s tooth was so infected it went up into her nasal cavity. At least two of the Missoula fostered dogs have broken jaws — untreated, of course; it goes on and on.
If anyone thinks the psychopaths who ran this kennel got an unfair shake, I’d say think again. Your Lake County Sheriff ’s Office and County Attorney did a marvelous job to help resolve this case in such a timely manner and allow the liberation of these dogs. The dogs now have a chance at a real life without cruelty, and to be treated as living beings, not puppy machines.
